The Wedding Vespers return to the town of Aldeatejada in its IX Edition to celebrate the historical recreation of the stay of the infanta Mª Manuela de Portugal in 1453. The municipality once again celebrates the passage of Mª Manuela through Aldeatejada for two nights, where she had a meeting with the then Prince Felipe II. As usual, the residents of Aldeatejada will dress in period attire and the streets will be filled with different activities, including the market and the recreation of the different experiences of María Manuela de Portugal.
The celebration will begin on Saturday, October 1 at 6:30 p.m. and will be inaugurated with the parade of the Royal Courtship through the city of Salamanca, which will take place from the Roman Bridge to the Plaza Mayor. In addition, the Renaissance dances will take place, where the participants will wear their period costumes. At 8:00 p.m., the chronicle of the wedding of Felipe and M.ª Manuela will take place in the Plaza de los Bandos.
After this Saturday, on Sunday, October 2, the great celebrations of the act will be lived. Starting at 10:30 a.m., the typical Renaissance Market will begin, where other years various period activities are prepared. At 11:30 a.m. the parade of the Tercio de Salamanca will take place through the Renaissance Market for which they are looking for volunteers. Also, Edulogic Producciones has prepared the theatrical performance “A wedding that is in a store”, scheduled for 11:45 am on Sunday.
Later, it will be the moment of the Romances. José Vicente Ledesma Agudo will read the Romance de Ciego announcing the arrival of the Infanta M.ª Manuela of Portugal. Throughout the morning there will be other readings, performances and dances until 1:45 p.m. On Sunday afternoon parades, dances and children’s workshops will be held, in addition to the market which, like every year, will remain active all day until 8:00 p.m.
Throughout the day, accompanying the Renaissance Market, traditional games, archery, castle and ball shooting, palenque and animated characters will be held.
This Tuesday the 27th, the Aldeatejada City Council has summoned all the participants of the IX Wedding Vespers to finalize the details of the celebration.
