ABU DHABI’S CALENDAR DATES 180 DAYS OF CELEBRATIONS, INSPIRATION AND WORLD FIRST

ABU DHABIUnited Arab Emirates, September 26, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The Culture and Tourism Department ofAbu Dhabi (DCT ofAbu Dhabi) has announced its program of events for the 2022/2023 winter season, which are intended to generate excitement and elevate the experience of the UAE capital destination.

Revealed during a TV show, the updated schedule ofAbu Dhabi spans 180 days and features extraordinary concerts by regional and international artists, exhilarating sports and esports action, immersive cultural festivals, live interactive family shows, crowd-drawing concerts and performances unmissable theatrical, lyrical and dance.

Among the highly anticipated events on the calendar ofAbu Dhabiinclude Sting’s live concerts, Andrea Bocelli and A. R. Rahman, the inaugural NBA Abu Dhabi Games, the return of Abu Dhabi Showdown Week, headlined by UFC 280: OLIVEIRA vs MAKHACHEV, Disney’s The Lion King Show and IIFA Awards Abu Dhabi 2023. For lovers of rap and global urban music, the Wireless Festival will debut at Abu Dhabi on March 2023.

The full schedule ofAbu Dhabi being available on the Visit Abu Dhabi website, residents and visitors can now start planning their schedule for the following events:

A melodious musical program and electric night events

  • Wireless Festival : London’s famous rap and urban music festival will travel to Abu Dhabi on March 4, 2023.
  • Sting : 17-time Grammy winner to perform at the Etihad Arena as part of his tour My Songsto critical acclaim, on January 27, 2023. Tickets go on sale September 23.
  • Andrea Bocelli : the Italian tenor will return to Abu Dhabi for a night of enchanting classical music at the Etihad Park on 24 November.
  • A. R. Rahman : the winner of two Oscars will perform for the first time at Abu Dhabi at the Etihad Arena on October 29.
  • Amplified Music Festival : this three-day music event will take place November 11-13 at Yas Links Abu Dhabi.
  • Concerts du Louvre Abu Dhabi : the iconic museum will present a series of unique concerts to celebrate its fifth anniversary, with Majid Al Mohandis November 11 and Omar Khairat November 13th.
  • IIFA Awards Abu Dhabi 2023 : Bollywood film fraternity will return to Abu Dhabi February 11 and 12, 2023 for a weekend full of emotions at the Etihad Arena.
  • Middle East Film & Comic Con 2023 : this world-famous festival will bring film, TV and comic book lovers across the UAE together with the region’s biggest pop-culture festival in March 2023.
  • Westlife : the iconic Irish pop group will perform at the Etihad Arena on September 29, 2022.
  • Club Social Festival : promising a weekend of music, food and drink from October 28-30, this event will feature Liam GallagherKaiser Chiefs et Clean Bandit.
  • Concerts for the National Day: a series of concerts will mark this year’s National Day celebrations in various locations from December 1-3.
  • Concerts in Arabic: the best DJs and singers from the Arab world will perform at Abu Dhabi in a series of concerts from October 14 to December 21. Among the artists are Nancy Ajram, George Wassouf, Melhem Zein, Mouhamad Khairi, Wael Kfoury, Ahmed SaadDJ Aseel, BiGSaM, Aziz Maraka and Siilawy

Sports activities to win championships and excite crowds

  • NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2022 : The 2020-21 NBA champions Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks will play two preseason games at the Etihad Arena on October 6 and 8, marking the first-ever NBA games in the Arabian Gulf.
  • NBA District Showcasing the music, media and art associated with NBA culture, this immersive and interactive fan event will be held in conjunction with the NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2022 at Manarat Al Saadiyat from October 5-9. Fans will be able to engage with NBA personalities from around the world, experience authentic NBA game entertainment, enjoy hands-on basketball activities, and purchase limited-edition NBA merchandise.
  • Abu Dhabi Showdown Week (ADSW) 2022 : concerts, workshops, pool parties and citywide activities featuring some of the UFC’s biggest stars will take place October 17-23, headlined by the highly anticipated UFC 280: OLIVEIRA vs. MAKHACHEV on October 22 at the Etihad Arena.
  • Matchroom Boxing : BIVOL vs RAMIREZ : Dmitry Bivolholder of the WBA light heavyweight belt, will defend his world title against Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez on November 5.
  • MENA Games For Change Summit : Bringing together global gaming experts, the first Games for Change Summit in the Middle East and North Africa will take place on October 11-12.
  • UAE Warriors : featuring local and international fighters, the show will return on October 20 and 21, and again in December.
  • Abu Dhabi T10 League : the sixth edition of this popular cricket league will be held from November 23 to December 4 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.
  • BLAST : eight of the world’s top esports organizations will compete for the prestigious Global Finals trophy, a share of the $1 million prize pool, and the chance to boast of being the 2022 Counter-Strike Champions on the 17th and 18th december.
  • Death Festival : the car event will run from November 22 to December 4, featuring Khaleeji concerts, cultural and heritage activities, food stalls, an open-air cinema and a night market.

Leisure and family outings

  • Disney’s Le Roi Lion: the Etihad Arena will host a month-long performance of the acclaimed Broadway musical from November 16 to December 10 this year.
  • Disney on Ice : the city will once again host this hugely popular family show from October 12-16 at the Etihad Arena.
  • Mother of the Nation (MOTN) Festival : Offering family entertainment and cultural awareness, the event returns Dec. 9-18 with a packed schedule, featuring exciting zones and live performances including the Miami Band.
  • World Cup fan zone : Buoyed by football fever, Yas Links Abu Dhabi to host FIFA World Cup FanzoneAbu Dhabi from November 20 to December 18, to provide fans with an energized viewing experience, an array of dining options, an electronic gaming zone and other football-related activities.
  • Abu Dhabi Culinary Season: the emirate’s annual food celebration will take place from october to december this year in cafes and restaurants aroundAbu Dhabiwith a varied program of culinary experiences, cuisines, styles and prices.
  • Blippi The Musical : the renowned children’s entertainer and educator presents an energetic, live musical performance for young children and families on February 18 and 19 at the Etihad Arena.
  • Middle East and North Africa’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 : this culinary themed event will feature dinners and discussions with guests, as well as the revelation of the ranking of the region’s top 50 restaurants.

Inspirational cultural events

  • Abu Dhabi Art 2022: the annual art fair returns November 16-20 and brings together local and international galleries, along with exhibitions, artist commissions and installations.
  • The Traditional Handicrafts Festival 2022 : the annual festival held in the Al Qattara Heritage District in Al Ain will return from November 1 to 20, inviting visitors to experience traditional UAE handicrafts.
