The German basketball champion Alba Berlin has won his first friendly in preparation for the new season. The team of Alba coach Israel Gonzalez won 92:74 (45:32) against the Danish title holder Bakken Bears on Sunday. The most successful point collectors from Berlin were Ben Lammers with 18 points and Yannick Wetzell (15).

Coach Gonzalez had to do without the five national players who are going to represent their nations at the European Championships. The coach’s eyes were primarily on the newcomers to the ranks of the Berliners. Alba quickly took the lead with 10:2, but after ten minutes at 19:16 they were only three points ahead, which they had increased in the second ten minutes to 15 points at 39:24 and 45:32 changed sides.

In what was at times a wild game – the Danes are also preparing for the season – Alba went into the last quarter with an 18-point lead at 72:54. There, the Berliners quickly increased their lead to 22 points (79:57) and won their first test very safely and clearly.

Alba is traveling to a preparatory tournament in Paris next weekend, featuring Maccabi Tel Aviv, Asvel Villeurbanne and hosts Paris Basketball. On September 28th, Alba opens the Bundesliga season with a home game against the Veolia Towers from Hamburg.
