How shows Köln this time?
After the bloody riots by FC fans before the game in Nice last week, Cologne starts this Thursday in the conference at home, hosting 1. FC Slovacko. Because of the incidents, the game was upgraded to a risky game by Uefa.
Cologne coach Baumgart after the 1-1 draw in Nice: “I don’t think I’m the most anxious person. But what happened yesterday will stay with me for a very long time. It was just pure violence. And that’s scary when you’re standing relatively close. My family sat in the seats where they walked by. There’s a lot going on in you.”
The public prosecutor’s office in Nice has initiated several investigations into joint property damage or violence in and around the stadium.
So on Thursday the club is hoping for better behavior. The first home game in the Conference League is against Slovacko, who qualified for the group stage via the play-offs. Slovacko is currently in 10th place in the Czech league and has only won two of eight games.
