It is true that the retro jerseys of Spišská Nové Ves from the 80s of the last century were strikingly similar to the Spartan ones. They were not red or white, which the Prague club uses, but yellow, but the capital letter “S” dominated the chest.
“There was certainly no intention to create Sparta-like jerseys. This is a special retro edition. Hockey players from Spišská Nové Ves played in these jerseys several years ago,” explained to Nový Čas the general manager of the club, Richard Rapáč, who also worked in Liberec and Litvínov during his playing career.
While Spišská Nová Ves lost 2:3 to Prešov on Tuesday, Sparta fared better on the same day, winning the derby with Slavia by the same ratio.
