On the way to the first ATP final of his career, Hanfmann stands in the semifinals of the Serb Dusan Lajovic or the Austrian Filip Misolic.
Hanfmann once again lived up to his reputation as a “height specialist”. In 2020 he reached the final in Kitzbühel, as well as in the Swiss final in Gstaad 2017.

Albert Ramos-Vinolas and Roberto Bautista Agut had previously fixed an all-Spanish semi-final. Ramos-Vinolas defeated his compatriot Pedro Martinez 6:4.6:2, the number three seeded Bautista Agut needed 2:50 hours against the surprise Czech man Jiri Lehecka in 4:6.7:5.7:5.
