Wonju Chiak Cup Badminton Tournament is imminent – Gangwon Ilbo

A nationwide badminton club festival, the Wonju Chiakbae National Life Sports Open Badminton Competition will be held on the weekend.

The national competition hosted by the Gangwon Ilbo and organized by the Wonju Badminton Association will be held for two days with the opening ceremony at 6 pm on the 6th.

It will be played in men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles for each age group from 20’s to longevity (70’s and over), along with the former players, the Jagangjo and the top players.

Especially in the case of this tournament, as it is the first event since 2019 due to the aftermath of COVID-19, the interest of club members across the country is high.

489 teams from Gangwon-do participated, and a total of 812 teams including 129 teams from Gyeonggi-do, 78 teams from North Chungcheong Province, 68 teams from Seoul, 25 teams from Gyeongbuk, 8 teams from Daegu, 8 teams from Daejeon and 7 teams from South Chungcheong Province.

Including the players’ families and support teams, about 2,500 people will visit Wonju for two days and it is expected to help revitalize local games along with the holiday season.

However, to prevent COVID-19, wearing a mask is essential.

The winning team in the men’s and women’s groups will receive a prize of up to 500,000 won and the best racket depending on the participating team, and the winning team of the best mixed wear team will receive a prize of 200,000 won and the best racket as prizes. In addition, visitors will receive generous prizes such as TVs and fans through a lottery.

Meanwhile, the association’s executives and staff sent out invitations to each person for a successful event, as it was a long-running competition, and finished checking the gym facilities for a comfortable game for the club members.

Kim Dong-ha, president of the Sea Badminton Association, said, “While preparing for this tournament, I prepared a lot so that I could exercise in the best condition at a good facility. I will make it,” he said.
