With Irwing Avalos from Durango, the Mexican Basketball Team will seek to succeed – El Sol de Durango

Coach Omar Quintero and the Mexican Basketball Team arrived in Chihuahua this Monday to continue their preparation for the first match of the Fourth Window of the Qualifiers for the FIBA World Cup 2023there, will be proudly contributing its quality, the Durango player Irwin Avalos.

The concentration began last Saturday in Guadalajara, where the team participated in Gustavo Ayón’s farewell game and began training with a view to the confrontations against Colombia and Brazil, corresponding to the Qualifiers and, in addition, for the Americup that will take place on September 2 to 11 in Recife, Brazil.

The national team had its first practice at the Manuel Bernardo Aguirre Gym this morning with 12 of the 14 players that make up the list. Juan Toscano joined the group at lunch, because his flight was canceled by the airline and he couldn’t travel as scheduled, but in the evening training he will be able to see activity.

On the other hand, by decision of the technical staff, Héctor Hernández will join to replace Edgar Garibay who suffered an injury to the ring finger of his right hand playing with his professional team, Halcones de Xalapa, last weekend.

Mexico will seek to continue its good run in the World Cup Qualifiers, after finishing the first phase with a 4-2 record. By joining the groups, the national team is in fourth position in Group F and will have to face Brazil, Colombia and Uruguay on two occasions, in a reciprocal visit, to find one of the seven tickets for the international tournament.

In this fourth window, the team led by Quintero Pereda will face the Colombian national team on August 25 in Chihuahua, at 9:30 p.m. (local time), and on the 29th against Brazil, at 7:30 p.m. ( local time), in Jaraguá Do Sul.

The Mexican Senior Men’s Basketball Team will have the logistical and financial support of the businessman and CEO of Xoy Capital, Carlos Lazo Reyes, also owner of the Generales de Durango, who, in collaboration with the Government of the State of Chihuahua, through the Institute Chihuahuense del Deporte y Cultura Physical, and ADEMEBA, have made it possible for the so-called cathedral of Mexican basketball to once again host a qualifying game for the World Cup.
