Why Eden Hazard, although in good shape, did not play in the European Supercup

Obviously in great shape during the pre-season, during which he worked hard to return to good physical condition, Eden Hazard did not leave the Real Madrid bench during the victory of Madrid against Eintracht Frankfurt in the European Supercup (2-0). Carlo Ancelotti’s men easily overcame Germany’s Frankfurt thanks to goals from David Alaba and Karim Benzema.

But not playing was a new disappointment for Eden Hazard, who has been disappointing for three years in Spain now.

However, if we are to believe the AS newspaper, Carlo Ancelotti had a good reason for not bringing the captain of the Red Devils into play. Indeed, the latter considered that the Supercup was the culmination of the 2021-2022 season and he therefore decided to renew the same players who shone last year.

Long injured and often on the bench when he was fit to play, Eden Hazard has, it is true, very little contributed to Madrid’s various successes, whether in the Champions League or in La Liga.

Since his arrival in 2019 at Real Madrid, where he arrived as a true international star, Eden Hazard has not yet proven himself, he who has only played 66 matches for Real Madrid, registering only six goals and ten assists.

That said, Antonio Rüdiger and Aurélien Tchouaméni, two new incoming transfers from Merengue, were able to play a few minutes of play when they weren’t even at the club last season…

From now on, Eden Hazard will have to wait until Sunday evening (10 p.m.) to (perhaps) tread the lawn of Almeria with his teammates.
