Jakarta (VNA)- The delegation vietnamIta won 28 gold medals after three days of participation in the XI Paralympic Games of the ASEAN (ASEAN Para Games 11), which means that it almost met the goal set of achieving 35 to 40 gold medals in the regional sports event, in development in the Indonesian city of Surakarta.

The day before in particular, the swimming team attracted the first golds of the day to the national delegation with five gold medals, followed by the athletics team, with five golds, eight silvers and two bronzes.

In chess, the Vietnamese players showed excellent performance by winning four gold, two silver and three bronze medals, while the weightlifters won two additional gold and two silver medals.

The Vietnam visually impaired judo team also had a great day, collecting two silver medals.

On the same August 2, table tennis players from Vietnam bravely fought against strong opponents to take the first silver medal in the sporting event.

ASEAN For Games 11 will be held from July 30 to August 6 in the city of Surakarta, with the participation of 1,286 athletes, who compete in 14 sports with 907 categories.


Competitions at the ASEAN Para Games 11 are held in three locations namely Surakarta, Karanganyar and Semarang.

The Vietnam Sports Delegation, made up of 153 members, including 120 athletes, will compete in eight sports (athletics, swimming, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, judo and archery) and is striving for 35-40 medals of gold./.
