US Open | Belarusian Azarenkova was not granted a visa and will miss the tournament in Toronto

The 33-year-old native of Minsk announced on Twitter that her visa application was rejected by the Canadian authorities. “I am disappointed. And sad that I will miss my favorite tournament,” Azarenkova wrote. The 20th player in the world ranking started in Washington last week and knocked out Tereza Martincová in the second round. He now plans to play in Cincinnati the week after Toronto.

In Canada, Barbora Krejčíková and Karolína Plíšková, who were drawn together in the first round draw, will also appear, as well as Petra Kvitová and the successful qualifiers Martincová and Maria Bouzková.

The US Open Grand Slam will begin on August 29. Azarenkova has played in the final there three times, the last time was two years ago.
