Transfer market to PSG: Fabian Ruiz must commit this Monday

Unless the situation turns around, Fabian Ruiz arrives this Monday from Naples in Paris to undergo his medical examination and engage with PSG and turn the page on four seasons in Italy. The duration of the contract would be five years and the operation valued at 25 million euros. At 26, the Spanish midfielder will then become the fifth summer recruit, after the arrivals of Vitinha, Hugo Ekitike, Nordi Mukiele and Renato Sanches.

It will then remain almost three days at PSG to complete two other arrivals, since Luis Campos, the manager of the first team, is still working on the recruitment of a central defender right axis and an attacker, a priori in the role of understudy of Neymar. The transfer window ends this Thursday at 11 p.m. The day before, Christophe Galtier’s team will have traveled to Toulouse on behalf of the 5th day.

The arrival of Fabian Ruiz should satisfy the latter. The Parisian decision-makers had decided to completely overhaul the midfielder, only wishing to keep Marco Verratti. Since then, Danilo Pereira has also convinced the technical staff. The others have left – Georginio Wijnaldum, Ander Herrera, Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe – or are about to be transferred, like Leandro Paredes, to Juventus Turin, or even Idrissa Gueye, whom PSG would like to sell to Everton, his former training.

A Verratti profile

The 1.89m left-hander has a Marco Verratti profile, with expertise in the direction of the pass, activity around the opposing thirty meters, but few goals per season. He can also evolve into a playmaker, offering a fairly wide tactical range. He touches a lot of balls per game, directs the game, in short, he will bring a new technical touch to a team that is not lacking in it.

Counterintuitively, one might think that his large size helps him in duels, especially aerial ones. It is not so, it does not express itself in power or combat. In the 3-4-1-2 of PSG, he seems to be able to replace Verratti in case of problems, or even be associated with the Italian. He can also step it up a notch and back up both forwards should Leo Messi be out.

Due to the World Cup and its unpredictable consequences on the second half of the season, the first half of 2023, Luis Campos and Christophe Galtier have decided to set up two teams of an equivalent level so as not to experience any holes in the season. and to be able to fulfill the objectives without depending on one player more than another, even if the talent of the three offensive players remains rare and apart. Today, with the arrival of Ruiz, if no setback comes to delay it, all that is missing is a competitor to Sergio Ramos behind and a double to Neymar in front.
