Dhe top fighters of the Austrian judo scene prepared for the World Championships in October in Wimpassing.

For the second time, the JC Wimpassing, as the current ÖJV regional base, organized a national team training camp. In addition to the top people from the host, the star of the reigning Bundesliga title holder was also there.

JC Wimpassing trainer Adi Zeltner was able to welcome around 50 judo athletes as host during the beginning preparations for the World Championships. Together with head coach Yvonne Bönisch and Robert Krawczyk, “very intensive and tough units were implemented”. In addition to Olympic silver medalist Michaela Polleres, Lukas Reiter, Aaron Fara, Lisa Grabner and Marlene Hunger (all JCW), Shamil Borchashvili from the Bundesliga Champion Judo LZ Wels also worked up a sweat at an outside temperature of 37 degrees Celsius. Like Polleres and Fara, he is one of the six fixed starters in the Austrian World Cup team. Furthermore, the Wimpassinger Grabner and Hunger on their own can also recommend themselves for the World Championships with a top result at the upcoming World Cups in Oberwart and Riccione/Italy in September.

“The training camp was also perfect preparation for the World Cup in Uzbekistan. We are very happy that our club not only provides ÖJV fighters itself, but can also offer the squad an optimal training option in general.”
JCW-Trainer Adi Zeltner

The national coaches Bönisch and Krawczyk praised the good organization and the atmosphere during the judo sessions. JCW trainer Adi Zeltner was particularly happy about the national team’s line-up at his facility: “It’s a very important thing for us. When the national team isn’t training in Linz, they come to us in Wimpassing three to four times a year. The training camp was also perfect preparation for the World Cup in Uzbekistan. We are very happy that our club not only provides ÖJV fighters itself, but can also offer the squad an optimal training option in general.”
