Tourists attacked in the restaurant, a sandwich shop closed after the beating and exposed

GALLIPOLI – After the attack on some tourists patrons of a sandwich shop in Baia Verde, the restaurant was closed for two weeks: this is the most important measure resulting from the checks, conducted by the state police, in Gallipoli, in the heart of the nightlife. A nightlife, in fact, often uncontrolled and annoying.

In the present case, in fact, for days there have been complaints about the screams, the noises and the fights that took place at all hours of the day, with related complaints by the residents for the disturbance of the public silence and for the fear of transit near the sandwich shop: the last episode, in chronological order, tells of an attack against some patrons, tourists of Campania origin, and employees, which led to the prognosis of twenty days for the dental fracture (with tooth avulsion) for a young man and a six-day prognosis for another young man who suffered a bruised elbow.

For what happened, which upset the safety of those present, given that the place was considered a meeting at risk, at the disposal of the Provincial Police Commissioner of the Province of Lecce it was closed for fifteen days with immediate effect.

But this is not the only sanction against activities in the area: a bar in the historic center was fined for occupying public land because it occupied the public space with tables and chairs, without having been previously authorized by the Municipality of Gallipoli; another bar on the Galilei seafront was instead sanctioned for having broadcast music beyond the allowed time. The owner of a Baia Verde nightclub was also sanctioned for continuing to broadcast very loud music beyond the allowed time and in the time when the music had to be broadcast only to accompany the outflow of patrons.

The checks did not concern only the premises, but also the rental shuttles with driver: one of these carried 11 passengers, instead of the 8 planned; the vehicle was also not even used for the transport of people. Therefore, the vehicle was placed under administrative detention and the driver, who did not even have the registration certificate in tow, was sanctioned.

During a patrol in Baia Verde, then, the policemen stopped a 36-year-old from Gambia, subjected to a search and found with eleven doses of cocaine and 210 euros in 20 and 10 euro banknotes, probable proceeds of illicit activity: the man, without fixed abode, was charged with possession of narcotic substances for the purpose of trafficking and the material subjected to seizure.

Also during the check, 5 young people were stopped at the exit of Gallipoli, all from neighboring municipalities and including a 15-year-old, who immediately aroused suspicion as one of them tried to get rid of an envelope. The gesture did not escape the agents, who immediately recovered it, noting that it was about 2 grams of marijuana.

From further checks, it emerged that inside the vehicle in which they were traveling, there were two baseball bats, one of which is 58 cm in wood and one in 65 cm aluminum, as well as 2 knives, one of which is a switchblade. about 21 cm long and a snap one 15 cm long. All the material was seized and the young man, owner of the vehicle, was reported for illegal carrying of weapons and carrying objects capable of offending.

Trouble also for a 48-year-old local in an evident state of drunkenness, confirmed by an alcohol test, who was stopped by the agents engaged in a checkpoint: the man was reported with consequent withdrawal of his license.
