It would be wrong to define A League of Their Own – out tomorrow, August 12, on Prime Video – “just” a story of sportand specifically of baseball. The series is in fact above all a tale of courage, determination, of fight against gender discrimination e you empowerment femminile.
The series in eight episodes bears the signature of Will Graham e Abbi Jacobson, who in addition to being the creators of the project are also executive producers together with Hailey Wierengo, Desta Tedros Reff and Jamie Babbit, who directed the pilot episode. Produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television with Field Trip Productions, A League of Their Own is set in the 40s of the last century and tells the story of true story of a group of women who, contrary to the common thinking and customs of the time, dreamed of playing baseball on a professional level, just like male colleagues.

Callaghan was one former baseball player who attended for five seasons in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball Leaguealso winning the “batting title” in 1945. His is a remarkable story precisely because it takes place in years in which female sport he was frowned upon or little regarded, if not entirely opposed and ridiculed. Candlestick – who is an American politician, director, teacher and writer – told about her mother’s sporting life in a documentary (always entitled A League of Their Own) and then, in fact, in the screenplay of the film released in 1992. The upcoming series is therefore a new adaptation of the story.
