This is my vacation budget. Cool off for free at Paris Plages

Swimming without spending a euro in Paris? It is possible with Paris Plages. Now an essential event in Parisian summers, the program offers cultural and sporting activities completely free of charge, such as at the Georges Carpentier sports center in the 13th arrondissement.

A 15-metre long above-ground swimming pool has been installed there especially for the summer, at the end of the athletics track. Sonia came with her family from Vitry-sur-Seine, in Val-de-Marne. “The swimming pool for the children and, for me, the sun”she enthuses.

“It’s free, there are several activities. It’s good for those who don’t leave. All that’s missing is a refreshment bar and showers!”

Since holidays can be expensive, especially when raising three children alone, Soraya is careful about expenses: “When I can, I take them to the Ivry swimming pool, but it’s impossible to go there every day. It’s two euros for entry, so eight euros for four… That’s a lot. Here, It’s free and you can stay playing until 8 p.m.

At the edge of the ephemeral swimming pool in the 13th arrondissement, there are also regulars of good deals. “I look on the Internet for free or discounted activities. I have three children, I like to do fun things even in the middle of a heat wave”assures Caroline, a resident of the district. For those who are on the move, free activities are offered nearby. “We did some archery, we made friends… We can have a lot of fun!”exults the little Anim, 10 years old.

Of the six free pools installed in Paris, two are new this summer, located in the 14th and 18th arrondissements. You have until Sunday August 21 to enjoy swimming.
