The XVI version of the Dominican National Games will be held in PR in October

San Juan (Puerto Rico).- The sixteenth edition of the Dominican National Games will be held in Puerto Rico between October 7 and 9, with the support of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec), announced Monday the general director of the event, Carlos (Happy) Hernandez.

Hernández, who is president of the Dominican Sports Union in Puerto Rico, highlighted that the event will bring together more than 400 athletes distributed in 10 sports and recreational disciplines.

The experienced leader thanked the support of the Minister of Sports and Recreation of the Dominican Republic, Francisco Camacho, who, on the instructions of President Luis Abinader, will provide full support for this important sports activity of Dominicans residing in Puerto Rico.

“We are very grateful for all the support from the Ministry of Sports and the Institute of Dominicans Abroad (INDEX-PR), for saying that you are present at our Dominican National Games in Puerto Rico, thank you for promoting sports abroad” said Blessed Hernandez.

On his side, the technical director of the Patriotic Games, Francisco Batista, indicated that they will compete in judo, karate, taekwondo, volleyball, basketball, softball, wrestling, dominoes, chess and softball.
“The most important thing for us regarding the celebration of these traditional Patriotic Games is to achieve the massification and development of the different sports modalities that will be participating in this important Dominican event,” said Batista.

He said that the celebration of these games also contributes to the recreation of children, youth and adolescents and in this way, prevent and counteract the social ills that try to divert these conglomerates from good actions.

Hernández and Batista invited all members of the Dominican community in Puerto Rico to support this event, which is also a way of fraternizing – through sports, “among our Dominican brothers.”
