The Spanish Badminton elite prepares for the European and World Championships in La Nucía

The Spanish Badminton Federation (FESBA) has chosen “La Nucía, Ciudad del Deporte” for a concentration of the best absolute and junior players, except Carolina Marin, to prepare for the Junior European Championships in Belgrade 2022 and the Absolute World Championships in Tokyo 2022, which will take place this August. For 15 days they are carrying out double training sessions using both the Pavilion, gym, swimming pool, as well as rooms for technical and tactical talks.

Spanish badminton faces some intense weeks of preparation with a view to the next sporting challenges and it does so in La Nucía. Once again the excellent facilities of the Ciutat Esportiva Camilo Cano de La Nucía They have acted as a magnet for them to be chosen by a national federation, in this case the Badminton federation, to hold a 2-week concentration with 30 male and female players. It involves 15 players who train at the CAR in Madrid and 15 Junior and Absolute players who are followed by the Federation. There are also the players who compete in the UBER CUP, to promote women’s sports.

Bernabé Cano, mayor of La Nucía, visited the concentration of the Spanish Badminton Federation and wished all the players luck for their next international commitments.

The concentration headed by the technical director Arturo Ruiz with the FESBA staff and other technicians such as Dolores Marco, Salvador Franco, Carlos Rubio and Manuel Vázquez. As well as the last signing of the federation, the German coach Diemo Ruhnow, specialized in doubles.

Olympians and Mediterranean Games medalists

Among the 30 concentrates, the presence of the olympic Clara Azurmendi, Bea Corralessilver at the Mediterranean Games in Oran 2022 or Kike Peñalverdouble silver at the Mediterranean Games in Oran 2022.

Juniors

The junior players have trained in La Nucía to play the Oviedo Badminton International this weekend and then travel to Belgrade to play the 2022 European Championship. The junior players concentrated in La Nucía are: Jaume Pérez, Rodrigo Sanjurjo, Nikol Carulla, Daniel Franco, Ricardo Rettig, Carmen Jiménez, Macarena Izquierdo, Ana Caballero, Elena Lorenzo, Nerea Ivorra, Claudia Leal and Lucía Rodriguez, in addition to the athletes of the German national team Miranda Wilson, Brian Holtschke, Kai Schafer and Kian Oei.

Several of the absolute players concentrated in La Nucía will participate at the end of August in the Badminton World Championship in Tokyo 2022.
