the sinking of Saint-Etienne, reduced to 8 and crushed by Le Havre 6-0

The Stéphanois, bottom of the championship, suffered the heaviest defeat in their history at home.

SOS, adrift monument. AS Saint-Etienne, reduced to 8 for 25 minutes, sank on Saturday at home against Le Havre (6-0) during the 4th day of Ligue 2 and remains last in the standings. Last in the championship with an accounting record of – 1 point (following a penalty of three points at the end of last season) the Greens are still looking for their first victory this season (2 losses, 2 draws).

Threatened from the first minutes by a strike on the post from Richardson (6th), the Stéphanois then began a long descent into hell. Defender Anthony Briançon was first sent off by the referee, Mr. Letexier, for a second yellow card (31st) before Mathieu Cafaro, author of a bad gesture on Oualid El-Hajjam (37th), was dismissed in the locker room. A member of the Saint-Etienne staff was also expelled in stride for protest.

Laurent Batlles’ men took on water in the second half, first conceding two goals in quick succession from Sangante on a corner (51st) then from Alioui (56th). Lekhal (64th) widened the gap with a shot at the entrance to the area and Operi scored twice (80th, 84th).

Meanwhile, Greens goalkeeper Etienne Green had also received a red card for a failed exit on Kitala (66th), who presented himself against him without adversity.

Kitala got his revenge at the end of the game by scoring the 6th goal for Le Havre (90th) against Green’s replacement, Noah Raveyre, 17. Mr. Letexier did not play any additional time.

This is the second game in a row that AS Saint-Etienne has finished in numerical inferiority, after the expulsion of Nadé last Saturday against Quevilly-Rouen.
