This unfortunate coincidence, the RTBF, which holds the rights, cannot do much about it and has to get used to it, as explained by its sports manager, Benoit Delhauteur: “This is not the ideal calendar for us but it’s not something we have in hand. It is the big markets, that is to say the big countries which pay a lot more for these rights, which dictate and have the most influence on the choices made by UEFA. »
The best game every time
But the RTBF will do everything to best satisfy its audience: “We will do our best to expose the Union and Anderlecht when they play at the same time, whether through summaries and good analyzes of their matches but also through live coverage. audio too. We will do our best to exhibit them despite this schedule. »
For the moment, the choice during simultaneous meetings has not yet been decided. “We’re just going to think about it and further analyze things. As we have the rights for two time slots, we will take the most interesting match each time for the 6:45 p.m. and 9 p.m. times. “As a result, La Gantoise is the big winner since its meetings will automatically be much more popular than what was normally expected.
For the supporters of the two Brussels clubs, it will therefore be necessary to pray (but VOO will be able to broadcast the Union and Anderlecht match which RTBF will not broadcast), even if it is hard to imagine the public service not broadcasting two matches of each of the two formations…
