Conscience? Police officer Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo, accused of murdering eight-time world jiu-jitsu champion Leandro Lo during a weekend concert in Sao Paulo, Brazil, has turned himself in to police. This information was written by the MMA Fighting server. The server g1.globo.com was the first to report.

Velozo is accused of shooting a Brazilian wrestler in the head over an argument over a bottle of alcohol at Clube Sirio.

Legendary Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighter Leandro Lo was shot dead at the age of 33 during a weekend concert in Sao Paulo by an off-duty military police officer. He was on the run after the incident.

Server noticias.uol.com.br published on Monday that Veloza’s first run-in with the law was unsuccessful. A police officer was found guilty of assaulting a colleague in a nightclub in 2017. He was convicted but did not serve a prison sentence.

Lo was a multiple world champion in BJJ. His resume included victories in the World Cup, Pan American Championships and Brazilian National Jiu-Jitsu Championships.

The Brazilian has been one of the most successful jiu-jitsu wrestlers of all time, winning eight IBJJF World Championships as a black belt since 2012.

After the tragic event, people from combat sports also commented on this sad moment on Twitter.

“Sad to hear of the tragic loss of Leandro Lo. He was one of the best jiu-jitsu fighters ever. A terrible tragedy. My condolences to his family and friends,” MMA commentator John Gooden wrote.

“Unbelievable that Leandro Lo is no longer alive. Rest in peace,” added UFC fighter Gilbert Burns. “Incredibly tragic news of Leandro Lo’s death. Shocking. Rest in peace!” joined by Marc Goddard, referee and former MMA fighter. “A very sad day for the entire Brazilian jiu-jitsu community. Leandro was a legend,” said former UFC fighter Kenny Florian.
