The Moroccan 3×3 basketball team wins its first game

Cis a victory that revives the hope of seeing Morocco shine at the Islamic Solidarity Games. The Moroccan 3×3 basketball team won its first match against Mali on Saturday August 13, at the end of the 4th day of the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games which continue until August 18 in Konya, Turkey.

Moroccan basketball players beat their Malian counterparts with a score of 17 to 13, in a match counting for group C, played at the Palais des Congrès et sports de Konya. They therefore remain in the running to make Morocco shine in this competition involving countries with a Muslim majority.

However, the results remain mixed for the other disciplines. Moroccan cyclists, for their part, presented a mixed record after the failure at the foot of the podium of Achraf Ed-Doghmy, who came fourth at the end of the final of road cycling, disputed over a distance of 130 km.

Adil El Arbaoui and Anas Ait El Abdia came in 8th and 9th place, respectively, while Mohcine Elkouraji came in 14th, followed by his compatriot Nasr-Eddine Maatougui in 15th place. Mounir Makhchoun, meanwhile, came 42nd.

The national volleyball team also left the competition after losing to Azerbaijan 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 26-28, 19-25) in the match of B group.

In Greco-Roman wrestling, Bilal El Bahja was eliminated in the 67 kg category in a match for the bronze medal, against Uzbek Abror Atabaev. His compatriots Fouad Fajari (60 kg) and Aziz Boualem (77 kg) left the wrestling events in the quarter-finals.
