“The management of the treatment towards the fans is disastrous”

Girona had the dream debut in Montilivi with a great triumph against Getafe (3-1). The night, however, was not so idyllic for many of the fans who encountered several setbacks during their stay at the stadium. First were the long queues at access due to the technical incidence in the application and that it prevented the subscribers from showing their cards at the entrance – many of whom applied for the season ticket in physical format during the period established by the club, but it has not yet arrived; while then there were crowds to access the toilets, the bar service or to leave the premises.

The shortcomings in Montilivi generate complaints from the fans, who do not feel “comfortable” in what should be their home. The president of the Peñas Federation, Cristóbal Sánchezis disappointed with the “lack of empathy” by Girona towards his followers. “We are very good sportingly, but the management of the treatment towards the fans is disastrous. Every year we start the season with the same problems and it seems the club doesn’t learn from it, it has to put in the batteries to be a first team in everything. When something is chronic, a solution must be sought. It’s not just the queues to get in, but investment should be made in improving the toilets, the chairs, the public address system, the scoreboard, having enough water in the bar… The club lacks proximity to the fans and should make self-criticism because if the fan complains, he deserves respect”, he regrets.

In this way, Girona issued a statement this afternoon in reference to incidents in access to Montilivi due to “the fall of the server where the application is hosted”. “Despite the fact that the server’s resources had been doubled, the high number of queries in a short period of time caused an overload that collapsed it”, he explained. The club will count the Girona-Getafe match as attendance for all season ticket holders.
