This was stated to Efe by the president of the Ecuadorian Judo Federation (FEJ), Roberto Ibáñez, who pointed out that “each country has its potential” and wished “this World Cup to be a complete success” during the five days of combat, from 10 to August 14.

The manager, who also chairs the Guayas Sports Federation, highlighted the acceptance that the organization of the Junior Judo World Cup has had, which is reflected in the number of participating countries, which will wait for the draw on Tuesday to start the competition on Wednesday.

The tournament will take place at the Voltaire Paladines Polo indoor coliseum, next to the Alberto Spencer soccer stadium and next to the headquarters of the Ecuadorian Olympic Committee (COE).

In total there are seven European judokas who arrive in Guayaquil with the intention of repeating their world title won last October in Olbia (Italy).

Roberto Ibáñez assured that it has been possible to reach this stage thanks to the support provided by the national government, chaired by Guillermo Lasso, through the Ministry of Sports, the support of the Guayaquil Mayor’s Office, the Guayas Prefecture and private companies.

“The organization took us a year to get everything ready within the high demands of the International Judo Federation, which assumes full control because it is their event, so the work has been titanic to be able to organize the sixth official championship. that the history of Ecuadorian sports has,” said Ibáñez.
