The II Fair of Manga and Japanese Culture of Vila Joiosa already has an official poster and program of activities

The Department of Youth of the City Council of Vila Joiosa has organized the II Fair of Manga and Japanese Culture of Vila Joiosa, which already has an official poster. The winning poster, the work of Daniel Hernández, has been selected from among more than thirty proposals for the competition to announce the new edition of the successful Vila Manga and Japanese Culture Fair.

The jury of the contest was made up of the mayor of Youth, Aina Santamaria; the editor and illustrator, Marta Torres; and local artist Evaristo Alguacil. In addition to the winner of the contest, the jury awarded two other prizes among the participants. Patricia Sebastián’s poster, second winner, will be in charge of announcing the contest for the 2023 edition; and the poster presented by Karla Soler was the third winner, being the winner of the junior category.

“Many high-quality proposals have been submitted, so it has been difficult to choose one of them,” says the Councilor for Youth, Aina Santamaria. The mayor vilera has said to be “very happy” with the decision of the jury and with the winning work. “It unifies something so characteristic of Japanese culture, such as manga drawing, with something so ours and symbolic of our municipality, the colored houses.”

Santamaría thanked all the contestants for their effort and dedication and said she was “amazed” by the many “great talent” proposals received.

Activity program

The celebration of the 2nd edition of the Vila Joiosa Manga and Japanese Culture Fair is scheduled for next Saturday, September 17, 2022, and during its celebration, the attendees will be able to share and spread their love for manga culture, In addition to being informed and enjoying conferences, commercial stands and activities related to Japanese culture.

This year’s programming includes sushi and armor workshops for cosplay, fan meetings, film screenings, hamma and origami workshops, archery, soft-combat, karaoke, board games, K-Pop dance and a Cosplay between their activities.

“Although prior registration will be required to carry out some workshops, most of the fair’s activities are designed to be carried out freely during the day, and of course, all for free,” explains Santamaría. The activities and workshops will be complemented by numerous stands for illustrators, merchandising and food-trucks.

In its first edition, the Vila Joiosa Manga and Japanese Culture Fair managed to gather more than 500 participants and thousands of visitors in the historic center of the Vila during its celebration day. That is why for this year, the fair moves to the grounds of the Barbera dels Aragonés park. “A better equipped space, with more shaded areas, and that has the other adjoining municipal building, the Llar del Pensionista, which will serve as support for carrying out the different activities scheduled for this edition,” says the mayor of Youth.

The II Fair of Manga and Japanese Culture of Vila Joiosa, which will be held on September 17 in the park of Barbera dels Aragonés in Vila Joiosa, has the Razia association of the town, and several local and regional companies for its celebration ; hoping to reap or exceed the same result as its first edition, and bring the manga and more traditional culture of the country of the rising sun closer to the young (and not so young) public.
