The GEiEG is launching one from this month dozens of performances which aim to improve and expand the facilities of Palau, Sant Narcís and Sant Ponç. The intention is to make a qualitative leap and expand the current offer of services and uses of the different spaces.
“We had to take a step forward, modernizing, repairing and expanding our facilities and all the services we offer. This is essential to maintain all social activity and improve attention to current and future members, as well as maintain dedication to grassroots and amateur sport,” explains the president of the entity, Francesc Cayuela, through a statement. “Now is the time to make a clear, determined and even necessary bet, even though the economic situation, as is the case with the rest of the clubs in Catalonia, is not optimal,” he adds.
It should be remembered that three years ago, the floods caused by storm Glòria seriously affected Sant Ponç’s facilities, so a plan was carried out to try to restore normality. Also, in September of last year 2021, the roof structure of the 50-meter Olympic swimming pool was replaced.
What are these improvements? One will be built new artificial turf soccer field in the Palau complex and the launch zone will be expanded located in the same facility. In addition, they are renewed two fitness rooms in Sant Narcís and Sant Ponç, and also the Palau gymnasium. In Sant Narcís, the tracks will be conditioned and fixed “Thoro” roller hockey and handball. Finally, they must be built in Sant Ponç two new padel courts, in addition to modernizing four tennis courts. All of this will be accompanied by a modernization of the services, increasing their grid.
