The France U18 women’s team continues to impress. Julien Egloff’s daughters won 46-71 against Italy in the quarter-finals of the EuroBasket in Heraklion, Crete (Greece). They are therefore heading straight for the semi-finals and can therefore continue to dream of a continental title, but they will first have to eliminate Spain, who won against Finland.

As usual, the bleuettes left their opponent of the day in contact in the first quarter (13-16) and accelerated in the second quarter to create the gap. This time the second act was less prolific offensively but hurt just as much. The Italians were 5-13 over the whole period and chased after the score until halftime. The Bleuettes led by eleven points (18-29).

Returning from the locker room, the tricolors increased their lead and did not release the pressure against Mathilde Villa and her gang who, despite their good will and courage, came up against a French women’s team sure of its strength and who unfolded his game until the last moments of the meeting and who could count on his interior Rosanne Le Seyec (16 points at 6/9 on shots, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block for 14 ratings and his offensive leader since the start of the competition, Leila Lacan (14 points at 5/11 on shots including 2/4 at 3-pointers, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 4 steals and 1 against for 10 evaluation in 21 minutes) not to run out of steam. On his side, Mathilde Villa was contained to 10 points while her twin sister, Eleonora Villa didn’t do much better with 13 points.

The French U18 women’s team therefore joins the last four of the competition and will face Spain this Saturday at 6:00 p.m., with the mission of qualifying for the final of EuroBasket 2022.
