The first adapted surfing championship is born in Zarautz

From October 19 to 23, the Pro Zarautz Open and the first international adapted surfing competition will be held. There will be 35 for each category, which means a strong start in an appointment that is here to stay. To them will be added the participants in the surfing championship with participants from all over Europe as usual. Zarautz will once again be the epicenter of this sport. At the same time, the event will feature many and varied activities encompassed within the FederArte surfing kultura circuit, with live music, barbecues, talks, a skate and bodyboard exhibition.

In yesterday’s presentation at noon held in Zarautz, the organizers stressed that after two years without being able to celebrate anything, “with the support of institutions and brands, we will be able to resume this sporting event that is so popular in Zarautz and Euskadi ».

Among the possible candidates to participate is the adapted surfing world champion Aitor Francesena from Zaragoza, as long as his schedule allows it. The week will compete in the United States.

Yesterday this appointment was supported by Iker Goiria, from the Department of Tourism of the Diputación; Leire Arana, mayor of Tourism of the Zarautz City Council; the president of the Guipuzcoan Federation Maialen Sáez, and Guillermo Lam, director of the cultural part of the event.

They were all accompanied by Julen Egiguren, competition director, the winner of the Gipuzkoan championship and one of the wildcards invited to Zarautz, Bitor Garitaonandia, as well as Álvaro Bayona, championship organizer.
