The Department of Culture and Sports of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa has approved the call for grants corresponding to the Sports Facilities Plan for Gipuzkoa 2022 for an amount of 1,950,000 euros. Local entities in Gipuzkoa may benefit from these subsidies. The deadline for submitting applications is one month from the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of Gipuzkoa (BOG), whose publication is expected in mid-August.
There are three subsidy lines: substitution, transfer, remodeling, expansion and rehabilitation of conventional sports facilities, with the exception of soccer fields (1,000,000 euros); adaptation of non-conventional sports spaces in order to facilitate sports practice for the entire population (450,000 euros); and substitution, transfer, remodeling, expansion and rehabilitation of soccer fields (500,000 euros).
Currently, in Gipuzkoa, 75% of the adult population practices physical activity regularly, 72% in the case of women. On the other hand, 70% of the school population reaches the minimum levels of physical activity required by the WHO (1 hour per day of moderate or intense physical activity). There are 1,644 sports facilities registered in the territory, of which 298 make up the basic network of sports facilities.
