Victim of a stroke last November, judoka Kenny Liveze won this Saturday in the final of the Junior World Championships.

Kenny Liveze. The name of this judoka from Guadeloupe could well resonate for many years to come as it is so promising. Crowned world champion and European cadet champion in 2019 then bronze medalist at the Junior World Championships in 2020, he took his revenge and won the Junior Worlds this Saturday in Guayaquil, Ecuador in the -100kg category. To reach the Grail, he defeated the Japanese Tomihori Nakano in the final on ippon.

A consecration for this promising talent of tricolor judo. However, this victory looks like a miracle because last fall, he was struck with stroke. In full judo competition at the Palais des Expositions in Perpignan on November 13, he was transferred to Montpellier hospital where he was quickly taken care of. And fortunately, the doctors deemed that surgery was not necessary. Nevertheless, he had been kept under observation for a full week before remaining in convalescence for several days on his return to Paris.

“He wishes him to continue, like Teddy Riner, on this path to success”

The luck that the resident of the ACBB club had in his misfortune, he will not keep no sequelae of this misadventure. This gave him the opportunity to gradually find his way back to training. And so to prepare for these 2022 Junior World Championships where he triumphed. This exploit made the president of the departmental council of Guadeloupe react, the department from which Teddy Riner also originates. “Guy Losbar expresses his pride following the victory of this young champion, who experienced health problems some time ago, from which he was able to recover to reach, today, the highest step of the podium, in his discipline. He wishes him to continue, like Teddy Riner, on this path to success, particularly in view of the next Olympic Games which will take place in Paris, in 2024” can we read in the press release.
