Summer in South Korea makes Asnawi Mangkualam Bahar even more awkward

A number of Ansan players struggled to show their best performance due to the scorching hot weather in Seoul.

Asnawi Mangkualam Bahar continued to show impressive performances with Ansan Greeners, and helped his team draw 2-2 against host Seoul E-Land at Mokdong Stadium last night in South Korea’s K League 2 continued.

Asnawi is again trusted to play the full 90 minutes. Even though he didn’t score in this match, Asnawi didn’t seem tired throughout the match.

Ansan was left behind by Lee Dong-ryul’s goal when the match was half an hour, and Mauricio Asenjo’s penalty was executed in the 39th minute. Lee Jun-hee was able to close the gap three minutes before the end of the first half before Kim Kyung-Jun’s goal in injury time gave Ansan a point at home.

After the match, Karteker coach Lim Jong-heon admitted that Ansan’s performance in this match was not optimal because most of the players could not withstand the heat and high humidity.

Asnawi said that the summer in South Korea helped him show good performances in the last few matches, including scoring two goals.

“Even though we didn’t get the three points, everyone worked hard. It’s really nice that we were able to bring home a point,” Asnawi was quoted as saying GOAL Korea.

“The weather in Korea now is very hot and humid. But this is not much different from the weather in Indonesia. So, my performance is getting better.”

In addition, Asnawi continued, the game scheme that Jong-heon wanted was not much different from that of the Indonesian national team. Even in a defensive situation, the flow of the ball was still directed forward, so Ansan showed an aggressive game.

“That’s the attacking style of play in Indonesia. I’m trying to keep it in Korea. It seems that things are going smoothly,” said the former Makassar PSM employee.

Given that this duel took place in Seoul, the Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong also took the time to be present at the stadium. However, this time Asnawi admitted that he did not know that Tae-yong watched the match at the stadium.

“I always knew that coach Shin Tae-yong would come. But I didn’t know he was here today (yesterday). Even so, the presence of a national team coach to the stadium to support me gave me additional strength,” said Asnawi.
