Benoit lost to the Czech Aneta Kucmova in two sets 5:7, 4:6.

In front of numerous spectators on Center Court, Marie Benoit took the lead by winning the first game. However, that didn’t last long. Afterwards, Kucmova turned things up and the game too. In the best weather, the spectators were offered an exciting tennis match.

The Czech stayed in the lead for a long time and even extended it in the first set. Nevertheless, Benoit still managed to make it 5:5. The win in the first set was back for a brief moment. But the momentum didn’t change, instead Kucmova made everything clear.

With a loud scream she secured the last important game in the first set. She prevailed with 7:5. The first sentence lasted an hour.

The second should last just as long, but started worse for Marie Benoit. Kucmova took a 5-1 lead in the second set. The game was as good as decided and there were the first signs of frustration on the part of the local hero. Benoit had a lot of trouble with Aneta Kucmova’s drop shots.

But then nothing came of a short process. Benoit fought his way game after game and shortened to 4:5. The Czech then won the second set after two hours.

The first title in singles at the Ladys Open in Eupen goes to Aneta Kucmova. Already on Saturday she celebrated the title in doubles together with the Japanese Misaki Matsuda.

The first ITF tennis tournament for women in Eupen is endowed with 25,000 dollars.
