Sabalenka survives in San José

A well-adjusted start to the match, although due to the characteristics of the two players, errors prevailed over precise shots. With three breaks in the opening games, Sabalenka had a 3-1 lead on the scoreboard. But then the doubts came for the Belarusian, and before that Dolehide managed, not only to recover the difference, but also to go up 5-3. The American had a service game to close the set, but although she did not get it at 5-4, she did take it 7-5 later..

Things could get very dark for Sabalenka, who quickly had to save three break point chances in the first game. However, Dolelhide began to loosen up a bit, and the errors grew. Aryna took a decisive 4-1 lead, which was later extended with a second break. The Belarusian took the sleeve 6-1.

The third set would bring a trend similar to that of the first set, with very favorable moments for Dolehide and a recovery for Sabalenka. The European was the one who began to suffer the most to hold her serve, having to face break opportunities, and that break came for the American 5-3 on the scoreboard. However, the tension would be difficult for Dolehide to cope with, who could barely take three points from there late in the match. Sabalenka signed two consecutive breaks to seal the victory with a final 7-5 against Dolehide, and advance in the WTA San José.
