Ryuga Tanaka gives another gold to Japan at the Junior Judo World Cup in Ecuador

Quito, 11 Aug. The judoka Ryuga Tanaka gave another gold medal to Japan on Thursday at the Junior Judo World Cup in Guayaquil (Ecuador), by proclaiming himself champion in the -73 kilos category against the Georgian Kote Kapanadze with a gold point.

With this new medal, Japan adds three world titles in this championship, followed by Georgia, Italy, Turkey and the Netherlands, with one each country.

In addition to Tanaka, the Turkish Ozlem Yildiz, in the -57 kilos category, and the Dutch Joanne Van Lieshout, in the -63 kilos category, were also proclaimed junior world champions.

Yildiz beat Japanese Akari Omori in the final thanks to a waza-ari obtained with a powerful change of direction and an acrobatic sumi-gaeshi, which she executed without even having her rival’s leg hooked.

For his part, Van Lieshout defeated the Brazilian Kaillany Cardoso in the final and revalidated his title already obtained last year at the Junior Judo World Cup held in Olbia (Italy).

For this Friday the categories of -70 kilos in women and -81 and -90 kilos in men will be played, where there will be new junior champions. EFE
