RWO: That’s what Sommers says about the false start of Rot-Weiss Essen

With one point and eleven goals conceded, Rot-Weiss Essen got off to a bad start in the 3rd division. That’s what RWO’s CEO Hajo Sommers says.

After three games Rot-Weiss Oberhausen started the season well with seven points. On Friday evening, the clover leaves are also at the U21 of 1. FC Cologne to guest, there wants the team of coach Mike Terranova expand their streak and stay higher up. But there is no issue about what happens in a league, like Oberhausen’s CEO Hajo Sommers explained.

Rot-Weiss Essen made a classic false start after being promoted to the 3rd division. The Bergeborbeckers, always just called “eastern neighbors” in Oberhausen, only got one point in the derby at MSV Duisburg in the first three games and in both home games against Elversberg (1:5) and Viktoria Köln (1:4) comparatively high defeats collects. Never before has a club conceded more goals in the first three games of the season in the 3rd division.

“They play in a different league, it’s not our league anymore. You gave everything – I hope,” says Sommers as part of “Sach ma board” with a small grin. Sommers disliked the fact that some fans were smugly happy about the Essen team’s false start: “Now seriously: You can’t begrudge a Ruhr area club the fact that it’s relegated again. You can allow us to rise, but don’t want everyone to come down.” This is exactly a problem in the Ruhr area mentality. Especially since the RWO fans would probably prefer to be able to play derbies against MSV Duisburg and Rot-Weiss Essen in the 3rd league than in the regional league.

With a win at BVB II, RWE can ensure calm on Saturday anyway and also silence the malice of the fans of the surrounding clubs.
