Christian Horner does not believe that the championship in either standings has been won yet. He takes the situation from earlier this year as an example, where Red Bull itself had to chase.

In conversation with Sky Sports Red Bull team principal Horner says that the situation after three races in 2022, with Verstappen and his 46 points behind Charles Leclerc, is a good example of why nothing has been decided yet. “For the drivers there are still 242 points to score in the last nine races. We have a good lead, but we must not forget that Max is already 40 points behind Charles [Leclerc] was standing. It can turn around so quickly.”

breakdowns

Ferrari already has seven outages in 2022, including three from Leclerc. Horner says he was disappointed that the Monegask retired from P1 in France during the twelfth race of the season. “I thought it was a shame that Leclerc dropped out on Paul Ricard. It could have been a nice battle. We went with the pit stop for position on the track and Charles would have passed Max. We had the feeling that we were fast on the harder tire. On the other hand, we don’t look a gift horse in the mouth.”

Championship

According to Horner, Red Bull certainly does not count itself rich yet. “We have to look from race to race to keep scoring points and staying consistent. They’ll get it on track at some point. They have a fast car and they have fast drivers.” There is also a big difference per circuit, the Briton indicates. “On one track they are faster than on the other. It’s surprising that they couldn’t do better because they focused on this car early last year. Besides, of course they are a very strong team. They will come back. .”
