Pablo Carreño beats Jack Draper and reaches the semifinals of the Montreal Master 1,000

The Asturian Pablo Carreño will play this next morning one of the semifinals of the Montreal Master 1,000 in which he will face the British Daniel Evans. The man from Gijón managed to get into the semi-finals after beating another Briton yesterday, Jack Draper, 7-6, 6-1 in one hour and 54 minutes of play. Carreño is having an impeccable tournament as he has not given up a single set so far and only Draper was able to break his serve on one occasion.

Pablo Carreño in Montreal beat Matero Berretini (6-3 and 6-2) in the first round, Holger Rune (6-0 and 6-3), Jannik Sinner (6-2 and 6-4) and Jack Draper (7-6 and 6-1). The semi-final match against Daniel Evans will be the first between both players. The Briton currently ranks 36th in the ATP ranking.

The other semifinal will be played by the Polish Hubert Hukacz and the Norwegian Casper Ruud, numbers 10 and 7 respectively in the ranking. Carreño is the only one of the four players to reach the semifinals without giving up a set. With this semifinal, the Spaniard has reached this round in all the Master 1,000 of America since before he did it in Indian Wells and in Miami. A victory in the semifinals will mean that Carreño rises to at least 16th place in the ATP.
