Norris is looking forward to ‘his Orange fans’: “But Max deserves them more than we do”

The Belgian Grand Prix is barely over before the focus can already be turned towards the party of the year: the Grand Prix of the Netherlands at the Zandvoort circuit. Lando Norris is looking forward to the race in the dunes and returns to his earlier joke from last year about the Orange fans.

Norris managed to get the laughs on his hand during qualifying for the Austrian Grand Prix in 2021, when he managed to qualify for second place, when he was asked a question about the Orange Army present. “The fans here are cool. Everyone in orange to support McLaren and not Max. It’s cool that they are back,” the British driver said at the time.

Norris over grap

The coming weekend he will once again be confronted with a legion of Orange fans. The Brit gets from GPFans the question whether he is looking forward to ‘his Orange fans’ in Zandvoort and the McLaren driver responds honestly: “Yes. To be honest I have to say that with the performance Max is now showing, he probably deserves even more fans than we do. I know that the Dutch fans also support me, it is a very nice event,” says the youngster.

Fans for Max

He continues. “All the way last year, it’s the first time we did it. There are a lot of orange fans, some are for McLaren but I think most are for Max,” it sounds realistic. He also looks ahead to the race itself. “A lot of downforce, so hopefully that will bring us back to Hungary a little bit in terms of pace, but you never know. Some of the problems we had in recent years are not so big now, now we have other problems. It can’t be much worse than this weekend.”
