In the case of football pro Deshaun Watson, the NFL has not come to rest: The league has appealed a six-game suspension. It’s about a case that’s already settled under criminal law.

DThe National Football League has appealed a six-game ban on Cleveland Browns football pro Deshaun Watson. The 26-year-old is said to have violated the league’s rules of conduct.

A former US federal judge issued the verdict on Monday. She had been nominated by the league and the players’ union. Due to the appeal, the case is now back with the league. NFL boss Roger Goodell or a person designated by him can now impose a more severe penalty.

The NFL had requested a suspension of allegedly at least one season for Watson because of the allegations. 24 women had civilly sued Watson for sexual abuse. The criminal case is already settled, two juries in Texas waived an indictment.

Watson denies allegations

Watson last played for the Houston Texans, but was not used because of the allegations last season. In the meantime, he has agreed on a settlement with 20 of the 24 women.

The Cleveland Browns had signed Watson, who had denied all allegations via social media, despite the possible suspension and given him a five-year, $230 million contract in March.
