(Reuters) – Lakers forward LeBron James has agreed to a two-year, $97.1 million contract extension, ESPN reported on Thursday. .

There is an option to extend it for another year, the agent said. He denied speculation in February that he was considering a move from the struggling Lakers, saying he would stay with the team as long as he could play.

The contract extension guarantees him $532 million for his career, making him the highest-paid player in NBA history, surpassing Nets’ Kevin Durant.

He averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game last season, but was limited to 56 games due to injury.
