Nagelsmann sticks to his successful self

In less than an hour the ball will be rolling in Munich’s Allianz Arena. Bayern welcome VfL Wolfsburg to their first home game of the new season. We will provide you with the line-ups for the game.

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann stressed at the pre-game press conference that there was no reason to change his starting eleven. True to the motto “never change a winning team”, the 35-year-old is sticking to his winning team from the DFL Supercup and Bundesliga opener against Frankfurt.

In front of Manuel Neuer in goal, a back four with Benjamin Pavard, Lucas Hernandez, Dayot Upamecano and Alphonso Davies is used again. This means that summer newcomer Matthijs de Ligt is only on the bench again – for the third time in a row.

Joshua Kimmich and Marcel Sabitzer start in defensive midfield. Thomas Müller and Jamal Musiala are offensive. Up front, Sadio Mané and Serge Gnabry form the dual leadership. A 4-2-2-2 is used as a tactical system.

The lineups at a glance

FC Bayern: Neuer – Davies, Hernandez, De Ligt, Pavard – Sabitzer, Kimmich – Musiala, Müller – Mane, Gnabry

VfL Wolfsburg: Casteels – Baku, Bornauw, Lacroix, van de Ven – Guilavogui, Arnold, Svanberg – Marmoush, L. Nmecha, Wimmer
