My Bayern: How Jamal Musiala accelerated Michael Ballack’s career – FC BAYERN MUNICH

“My Bayern” is the name of the column by SPORT BILD reporter legend Raimund Hinko, which deals with the German record champions. Hinko has been with Munich for decades.

Dear Michael Ballack,

what has become of you? In the past, as a world-class player, you processed the balls brilliantly at a chord pace, but with your mouth you held back even when he was hectic. Not to say you were pretty lazy.

And then you sat in the DAZN commentary area during Bayern’s 2-0 win against Wolfsburg on Sunday, saw Jamal Musiala’s first actions – and suddenly you started chattering away like a waterfall, completely uninhibited. This 19-year-old Bayern playmaker-scorer-wing-half-forward loosened your tongue. He accelerated your new commentary career. You didn’t want to stop talking. Especially not after Musiala’s magical 1-0, when he snaked past two Wolfsburg players, stumbled, didn’t fall, got up at lightning speed, almost acrobatic, turned and sunk the ball in the goal with millimeter precision.

That would be bitter!
Does Musiala have to go back to the bank now?

“You can’t learn that,” “that’s unique in the Bundesliga,” “it’s important that the coach (Julian Nagelsmann) lets him,” “I couldn’t do that at my age.” I love you so much never heard chatting. You’ve never praised someone so loudly.

Right Michael. There is nothing to add. I already criticized my colleagues at the beginning of the preparation because they didn’t have Musiala on their bill. But all the newcomers worth millions, who all grace the bank except for Sadio Mané. And Leroy Sané, whom you clearly criticized after being substituted on at half-time with lots of cotton ball words in long sentences: body language, dangerous turnovers in midfield and a lot more. I never give up hope myself that Sané has the great talents that most experts attribute to him. But I don’t really remember anymore.

Mathys Tel, who was allowed to play a few minutes at the age of 17, radiated more talent and determination. And good old Thomas Müller, 33 in four weeks, still looks like he still has his career ahead of him. In the 88th minute, tackled a Wolfsburg counterattack as if it were the Champions League final. And everyone who says he only deflected his goal to make it 2-0, Joshua Kimmich’s shot, should take a closer look: Müller’s toe clearly goes to the ball during the action – shot or deflected because of it, it was flawless intention in the game.

It remains exciting at Bayern. Benjamin Pavard is currently hard to imagine as a dangerous right-back. Marcel Sabitzer not in midfield either, Lucas Hernandez and Dayot Upamecano surprisingly not in defense either. Mathijs de Ligt, Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui, the three new Dutchmen, will have to stew on the bench for many, long minutes. Also next Sunday at feared opponents VfL Bochum.

A compliment again to national coach Hansi Flick, who brought Musiala to the pros at Bayern, gave him playing time and even established himself as a six in the national team. Of course to Julian Nagelsmann, who now made him a regular player. And of course to Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic, who extended the contract until 2026.

One thing is important now: you all have to hold on to the boy, believe in him even if he’s just playing average, which would be strong. He’s entitled to that too. And they have to stop piranhas like Liverpool, Chelsea, Paris St. Germain or Barcelona if they want to put their pumped money into a Musiala transfer. Also stop Pep Guardiola, Bayern Munich’s friend, if he wants to bring him to ManCity. If he fits any club at all, it’s Real Madrid’s Los Blancos. Maybe in ten years…

But this clever guy knows that best himself. Until then, he will probably have more titles than you, dear Michael, the four-time German champion and vice world champion.
