Yoichi Nema (43), a former professional basketball player from Okinawa Prefecture who is currently the U15 head coach (HC) of the Shiga Lake Stars in the first division of the B League, played basketball at Nagamine Junior High School in Tomigusuku City, his alma mater, on August 18th. opened the classroom. About 40 men’s and women’s basketball players from the same school who participated listened intently to Mr. Nema’s guidance, hoping to make their own high-quality techniques that had been honed at the forefront of Japan.

Nema was born in 1979. He won the National Junior High School Athletic Tournament when he was in Tomigusuku Junior High School, and joined the Yokohama Giga Cats of the Japan Basketball League (JBL) after attending Chatan High School and Hosei University. He also served as captain when he belonged to the Toyama Grouses of the bj league. He is currently a U15 HC in Shiga, while also serving as an assistant coach for the U18s and a training director for the entire youth team of the team.

Teaching tips mainly one-on-one

The men’s captain, Kaiki Tokumoto, gave his greetings on behalf of the team, saying, “Thank you for teaching me so many things. I will do my best in practice so that I can use the techniques I learned in my matches.” The women’s captain Sakura Kawamitsu said, “Thank you for teaching us how to use fakes and legs that can be used in the game.”

Masaki Yonaha, principal of Nagamine Junior High School, who saw Nema’s teaching method, said, “It’s very easy to understand why you should do this practice, and it’s very easy to understand for the children.
