MotoGP, Bastianini: “The overtaking on Martin? An extra help for those who have to decide “

On Silverstone Sunday, Enea Bastianini has recovered the enamel that in the first part of the season had allowed him to climb the top step of the podium three times. However, the race did not start in an exciting way, with the unlucky Gresini Racing Team rider starring in a light contact with consequent breakage of an aerodynamic flap (see cover photo) on their Desmosedici. In delicate conditions, his strength still proved to be the second half of the race. A few more laps would have been enough to try to grab the podium, but fourth place is also a good boost of confidence.

“I had to go in today in pac-man mode, to eat everyone else. It was a good race, too bad for that contact at the start because without a fin, especially at the beginning, it was not easy to understand the way I was supposed to drive because I didn’t quite understand what had flown off the bike. I suffered in the changes of direction, it seemed to me that I was constantly losing grip, but we gritted our teeth. In the central part I was able to recover and be fast. I touched the podium, but that’s okay, I rediscovered the sensations I hadn’t had for some time.

In light of this encouraging result, he mulls over the mistakes made so far. Despite the three victories scored, he has in fact recorded mixed performances. Bastianini tries to explain why.

I think I focused too much on thinking that these were not the right tracks for me. I let myself be influenced, but after the break I left with the intention of regaining the right confidence and doing the best possible. The most important thing today is that I enjoyed it. Now the next leads will be, on paper, all favorable “.

At the same time, Bastianini won the internal fight with Jorge Martin, passed on the most beautiful in the final lap. These races are therefore decisive in designating the sporting future of the Romagna (Ducati factory or Pramac the alternatives), which today however wanted to make things clear …

“I always like to give my all up to the checkered flag. If on the last lap I find myself close to another rider, my nature leads me to overtake him. I waited for the right moment and I succeeded. It is certainly an extra help to those who have to make decisionshowever, I remain calm in both cases since I would face a new adventure regardless. If this scenario were to be confirmed in Austria, I do not see why we should choose otherwise. Jorge is a strong opponent, we’ll see. Within Misano we will know the final choice. In the meantime, I have to stay focused on myself “.
