The Spanish driver will undergo a recovery treatment but will not miss the next race
The Spaniard Aleix Espargar, 2 en the world championship of MotoGP, suffers a broken heel, after his spectacular fall on Saturday during the last free practice session of the British Grand Prix, his Aprilia team reported on Monday.
“Fainting does not require surgical treatment Aleix must spend seven days of total rest during which he must use crutches,” added the squire, based on the medical examinations carried out in Barcelona.
“The Spanish pilot, victim of a chilling fall during the last session of free trials at silverstonestoically took to the track for Saturday’s qualifying and Sunday’s race,” remembers Aprilia.
After his fall, Espargar left the track leaning on two people to be taken to the medical center. I limped out, but was qualified fit by the MotoGP doctor to continue.
Despite the pain, sixth position in the standings on Saturday and finished 9th in Sunday’s race. After the 12th round of the 20 championship, won by the Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), Espargar is still 2 in the World Championship, 22 points behind the leader, the Frenchman Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha).
“The goal is to reach the next race weekend (August 19-21, Austria) in the best physical condition possible”, concludes the squire.
At 33 years old, Espargar won his first victory this season in MotoGP, in Argentina, which also gave Aprilia its first success in the motorcycling elite.
