MLB August 28 National League recap: Mookie Betts hits 4th homer in three games

MIAMI — Mookie Betts hit at least one home run in a third straight game, Julio Urias sparkled for six innings and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Miami Marlins 8-1 on Sunday.

Justin Turner and Max Muncy had three hits apiece for the National League West division-leading Dodgers, who are 28-8 since the All-Star break.

Betts, who also had a single and a double, hit the long ball for the fourth time in the series. He stretched his arms twice in Friday’s 10-6 win and once at the expense of Sandy Alcantara in Saturday’s 2-1 loss.

Urias (14-7) allowed a single hit, Brian Anderson’s sixth homer this season. He struck out seven batters and walked four. The southpaw has won 11 of his last 12 decisions.

Brusdar Graterol, Chris Martin and Alex Vesia completed the performance of two hits allowed from the Dodgers pitching staff.

The Dodgers took the lead on Betts’ 31st homer and Turner’s productive single in first.

Marlins starter Edward Cabrera’s (4-2) streak of 22 2/3 without allowing runs came to an end when Betts catapulted his third pitch over the fence to center field, a slap good for the 36th homer of his career to start a match.
