Did Michael Rangel ask for a clue to return to América de Cali? The rumor originated in the owner of the club, Tulio Gómez, and immediately moved thousands of fans.
Gómez affirmed, in a conversation with the journalist Carlos ‘Petiso’ Arango, that Rangel and Rodrigo Ureña told him personally that they wanted to return to the team in which they were successful.
But the striker, today in Deportes Tolima, completely denied that version, in the Caracol VBar: “He misunderstood that, because that was in February and we had barely been in Tolima for a month, how is one going to take a month and go to want to go somewhere else?” he said.
And, with some annoyance, he added: “You know how Tulio is, Tulio comes out with strange things, with crazy things at any time. The day we spoke with Tulio the Chilean and I, we met in Bogotá in February and now he comes out with those things, I haven’t touched on the subject of going back to America, he did ask me if I would like to go back, and I told him ‘who wouldn’t like to go back to America’, and more because of what I lived there, but at no time did I say that he was going to come back or that he was bored, or what he said about the thousand or two thousand people, we talked more about other things than football”.
The rumour, he said, has already created difficulties for him in Ibagué: “I don’t know why he comes out with that, there are people who are serious because they say I want to return, my present is Tolima and I have to give everything to defend this shirt” , commented Rangel, who is currently recovering from an injury and hopes to return to the courts soon, with Tolima’s red wine and gold.
