Mercato: Simakan, PSG’s emergency solution

In search of a central defender for this summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain is targeting Inter Milan player Milan Skriniar as a priority. But in the event of a failure on this file, the capital club already has a plan B with the talent of RB Leipzig Mohamed Simakan.

Mohamed Simakan is in the sights of Paris.

Paris Saint-Germain does not intend to have to act urgently at the end of this summer transfer window. If many sales are expected, the Parisian sports adviser Luis Campos still hopes to complete the arrivals of three players: a central defender, a midfielder and a striker.

In defense, the name of the Portuguese leader’s priority is already known: the rock of Inter Milan Milan Skriniar.

Watch en plan B

But for several weeks, negotiations with the reigning Italian vice-champion have proved complicated. For the Slovak, at the end of the contract in June 2023, the Milanese claim 70 million euros. Too high a price for PSG, who wants to lower the note. And faced with this situation, the Ile-de-France management even anticipates a possible definitive failure by advancing on a plan B according to L’Equipe this Thursday: the young talent of RB Leipzig Mohamed Simakan.

Without having the same profile as Skriniar, the native of Marseilles is unanimous internally in Paris thanks to his athletic qualities, his knowledge of the three-man system and his potential. In addition, the former Alsatian corresponds to the desire of the Parisians to rejuvenate the current workforce and facilitates, as a French player, the registration of the list for the Champions League with UEFA.

A track 40 M€

Having good relations with the RBL after the recent transfer of Nordi Mukiele, Paris has already initiated discussions for Simakan, under contract until June 2026 and potentially available against a check estimated at 40 million euros. An amount in the strings of PSG, which however hopes upstream to slim down its group. In any case, the reigning French champion no longer wants to be caught off guard…
