Martial arts world champion Leandro Lo dies after being shot in the head

With eight world titles and other successes, Leandro Lo made history in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. But no other titles will be added.

The eight-time world champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Leandro Lo, is dead. According to consistent media reports, the 33-year-old was shot in the head after a dispute at a party in the Brazilian city of São Paulo. Lo died Saturday night at Dr. Arthur Ribeiro de Saboya Hospital.

“Idol of a sport leaves us physically”

“The idol of a sport, Leandro Lo, is leaving us physically,” the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation said in a statement, noting that his spirit lives on. “We pay homage and homage to the man who helped and inspired so many people to wear the kimono around the world.”

The alleged perpetrator is police officer Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo, who is said to have grabbed a bottle to hit Lo with during an argument. According to the police report, when Lo made him drop the bottle, he grabbed his pistol and shot him in the head.

During his career, Lo won a total of eight world titles in six different weight classes and also took four runners-up titles in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
