After starting his work day with a bogey, Anderson found his way around. She had three birdies and added a bogey. Her score of 279 (-5) places her tied with five other competitors.

This is a third top 10 this season for the Maple Leaf representative in 15 tournaments. His compatriot, Maude-Aimée Leblanc, had not avoided the ax on Friday.

Buhai resists

As for Buhai (75), victory came with a near-perfect sand trap exit, with the ball about 60cm from the cut at the fourth overtime hole. She then managed the par while the South Korean In Gee Chun (70) had to settle for a bogey.

Both women first pared on the first overtime hole, then bogeyed on the second, and then pared again, each time at the 18th flag.

Buhai certainly made it difficult for herself as she had a five-shot lead heading into the final set. A triple bogey on the 15th hole notably had the effect of a mass on his scorecard. She and Chun still showed similar cumulatives of 274 (-10).

It was Buhai’s first LPGA Tour triumph, and consequently, a first major title.

PGA: a first title for Joohyung Kim

By giving the best card of the day to 61 (-9), the South Korean Joohyung Kim obtained his first title in the PGA at the end of the Wyndham Championship, in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The winner needed 260 strokes (-20) to complete the event’s 72 holes. He edged compatriot Sungjae Im (68) and American John Huh (67) by five strokes.

Taylor Pendrith (67) was the top Canadian, finishing at 270 (-10), in 13th place. Corey Conners (66) needed one more shot, in 21st position, while Michael Gligic (67) is in 61st place, at 276 (-4). The only other Maple Leaf representative to take part in the weekend rounds, Adam Svensson (72) finished 78th, at 281 (+1).
